Action Steps

The Team should consider implementing some or all of the following:

  • Playbook: Threats against PropertyRemind all staff to be extra vigilant and report all suspicious or unusual incidents that they observe not only while at work but also when at home or travelling
  • Confirm BC plans, and IT DR plans are in place and up-to-date

Confirm that:

  • Vital records are being backed up and are stored off-site
  • A clear desk policy is being applied
  • Vital paper records and documents are being stored in fire-resistant safes
  • Confirm that contact lists for emergency services, contractors, and suppliers are available and up-to-date
  • Ensure that fire extinguishers are tested and available within buildings
  • Confirm that instruction for dealing with fires, bomb threats and building evacuation is understood and has been tested
  • Prepare a press release in case operations have to cease or ABC COMPANY LIMITED premises are affected
  • Use additional guards on ABC COMPANY LIMITED premises and increase external/internal patrols
  • Ensure that building guards have an immediate point of contact with management day and night so that they can report incidents as they happen
  • Confirm that guards on premises at night have the telephone numbers of the emergency services and that they have access to a telephone

Where grills or shutters are fitted, keep them closed and locked:

  • Ensure that at night, all external doors and windows are locked and that the guard does not allow access to people not employed by ABC COMPANY LIMITED except in an emergency when members of the agencies responding should be allowed to enter
  • Playbook for Response to Crisis ScenarioCheck all premises at the start and end of the working day for intruders and unidentified packages, briefcases
  • Restrict parking at ABC COMPANY LIMITED premises
  • Check vehicles entering ABC COMPANY LIMITED compounds for under-vehicle vehicle booby-traps and other explosive devices
  • Check all mail for explosive devices
  • Check all handbags, briefcases, and packages carried by visitors to ABC COMPANY LIMITED's premises for weapons and explosive devices.
