Below is the detailed course curriculum and examination objective of Module 4 of the BCM-5000 Blended Learning course.

 

Module 4 or Day 4 of the BCM-5000 course is the culmination of the previous three modules, where participants must put all their learning into practice.

 

The participant will attempt the Qualifying Business Continuity Certified Expert (BCCE) Examination.

Description of Module [Day] 4 Course 

BL-B-5 M4 Course Requirement BCM-5000Module 4 or Day 4 of the onsite course consist of training in crisis communication, crisis management and the operating of a command centre.   During the last three modules, the BC plan and program have been developed and approved by management.  The final "Manage" competency set is learning how the other program within your organization is synchronized with the BCM program. 

 

The last module is to walk through the development of comprehensive testing and exercising of your plan.  The participants will receive the most comprehensive design templates and guidance notes for testing and exercising.  The workshop will require the participants to design and develop intermediate/ advanced level testing.  This ensures that participants can crystallize the concepts and apply the learning in a realistic setting.

Module 4 Session 1
Crisis Management and Communications
  • Able to identify the objectives and components of crisis communications 
  • Develop command and control strategy
  • Review threats and link emergency response to crisis management plans
  • Coordinate crisis communication
  • Identify stakeholders and strategies to address audience information needs
Setup Command Centre Operations
  • Understand Incident Command System, (ICS) Fundamentals
  • Identify emergency management protocols
  • Prepare to work with public authorities
Managing Testing and Exercising The entire process of testing and exercising, from conceptualization to design, coordination, execution, recording, and finally evaluating and reporting the results, are discussed. The challenges and pitfalls in organizing and managing large-scale exercises are also addressed in depth.
Managing the Business Continuity Programme The module touches on various activities ranging from plan review and update, to scheduling and coordinating exercises. Internal and certification audits will also be introduced.

Summary Project: Design and develop an advanced level and organisational-wide BC exercise programme
