Description of Day 3 [Module 3] Course
Day or Module 3 discusses advanced issues in managing an organisation's BCM project and programme. Considerations in planning and execution are discussed, such as establishing a project steering committee.

It is the culmination of the BCM-5000 course, where participants must practice all their learning from the past two days. They must work and analyze the requirements and build a business continuity plan and programme for the case study organization. This time in their capacity as the Organisational BCM Coordinator instead of being the BU BCM Coordinator as required in Module 2.
The participants are expected to complete an entire project from start to end via a detailed and structured case study. They will be equipped with the know-how to present to senior management for Risk Analysis and Review (RAR), Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity Strategy (BCS) reporting.

Managing the Business Continuity Project |

Managing Risk Analysis and Review | Identification, analysis and evaluation of threats are taught in-depth, and the concept of controls is presented as part of risk mitigation. Risk management is dealt with in the context of business continuity and disruptive incidents. |
Managing Business Impact Analysis | Identifying business functions and determining their criticality are discussed in light of the minimum business continuity objectives (MBCO) and their recovery time objectives (RTO). Loss impacts are broken down into financial, operational, reputation, legal, life safety, organizational assets, and community obligations, and their relevance to the organization is discussed. The student is also taught how to use business function interdependencies for identifying critical supporting business units. |
Managing Business Continuity Strategy | Participants are presented with strategies the industry uses to recover critical business functions and how various evaluation criteria can be used to select the most appropriate and cost-effective strategies. The process of comparing and presenting the strategies to management is also discussed. |
Managing Business Continuity Plan Development | Business continuity is holistically put in the larger context of incident response and crisis management and how the various disciplines interact to allow for effective decision-making, response and recovery across all levels of the organization. New developments and emerging trends in emergency response and coordination are shared with students, and their relevance in different business and operating environments is also explored. |
