eBook 3: [Business Impact Analysis] [Corporate & Business Unit MBCO]

Corporate and Business Unit Minimum Business Continuity Objective (MBCO) for the Singapore Institute of Technology
Introduction
In the face of disruptions, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) must ensure the continuity of critical operations to achieve its business objectives and maintain its reputation as a leading institution of higher learning.
The Corporate Minimum Business Continuity Objective (Corporate MBCO) outlines the minimum level of service and delivery that must be sustained during a disruption to meet the institution's overall strategic goals.
This chapter explores SIT’s Corporate MBCO and the Business Unit Minimum Business Continuity Objectives (MBCOs) that support the continuity of its essential services and functions.
Each Business Unit MBCO must be linked to the institution’s critical business functions (CBFs), as these are pivotal to achieving SIT’s mission. The MBCOs must be measurable, ensuring that SIT’s core activities are delivered effectively and with minimal impact even during a crisis or emergency.
Corporate MBCO for the Singapore Institute of Technology
The Corporate MBCO for the Singapore Institute of Technology defines the minimum level of educational services, research activities, and administrative functions that must be maintained to achieve SIT’s institutional goals during a disruption.
These goals include:
- Ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of academic programmes and assessments.
- Supporting digital learning and IT infrastructure to enable faculty, staff, and students to continue their educational and administrative work remotely, if necessary.
- Maintaining essential administrative functions, including student services, industry partnerships, and campus operations, to support the student and staff experience.
Corporate MBCO
The Singapore Institute of Technology will ensure that at least 90% of its academic programmes, student administration, and research activities are operational within 24 hours of any disruption.
Additionally, key support services, including IT infrastructure, campus operations, and crisis management, must be restored to full operational status within 48 hours to maintain the institution’s overall mission continuity.
