Planning Assumptions

Planning Assumptions are constants you need to assume your scenario will have when a disruption happens. Your plan is not meant (or more accurately, best suited) to tackling the scenario based on these assumptions. In the event of a real disruption, if these assumptions are not met, you may have to improvise accordingly.

  • An Infectious Disease is a foreseeable event such that advanced planning can be done.
  • The Infectious Diseases Preparedness Plan is for a 6-week duration, the period for a typical Infectious Diseases wave.
  • At each DORSCON alert level:
    • 100% staff availability at DORSCON Green And Yellow alert levels
    • 80% staff availability at DORSCON Orange alert level
    • 60% staff availability (i.e. 40% staff absenteeism) ) at DORSCON Red alert level
    • Up to 25% of the staff may potentially be infected with the disease and will be unable to perform any form of productive work during the estimated 2-week recovery period.
    • Suspects may be quarantined for up to 14 days.
    • If decontamination is necessary, surrounding areas will not be accessible for up to 3 days.
    • Multiple sites may be affected simultaneously.
    • IT Systems are not affected by the Infectious Diseases and is assumed to be normally operating.
