What is IT Disaster Recovery Project Management?
This blog discusses how an IT Disaster Recovery project management is conducted. It starts with the assumption of the appointment of the Executive Sponsor and the Organization DR Coordinator. The appointment process usually proves a long drawn affair as it is political and it is highly dependent on the motivation of the organization.
The first step in implementing DR is to set up the required Executive Management structure to support the process. It is followed by the creation of the DR team and the appointment of the Team Leaders for the several groups and team members, usually presented in a presentation and project charter to be approved by Executive Management.
Next, it confirms the business units and their functions that are to be included within the scope of the DR Planning project. The roles and responsibilities of each party during the project, to ensure the effective completion of task assignments and time goals, which will be set at later stages of the project.
Obtain the commitment of heads of business units and their staff members and involve them in the DR planning process. Identify and mobilize the business unit’s resources and begin the information gathering process.
The final product after the completion of the DR Planning process will be a DR Plan.
