Below is the detailed course curriculum and objective of Day 1 of DRP-5000 course.

 

It details how each day of the course would allow the participants to have a systematic understanding of the IT DR concepts and its implementation.  Participants completing Module 1 successfully will be awarded the Disaster Recovery Certified Planner or DRCP certification.

Description of Module [Day] 1 Course 

BL-DR-5 M1 Course Requirement IT DRP-5000You will be introduced to the IT Disaster (IT DR) Requirement, which is the de facto international standard for BCM.

This lesson walks the participant through the 10 key specifications to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve a documented management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive incidents when they arise.

Module (Day) 1 also defines IT Disaster Recovery (DR) and provides the participant with a contextual overview of the scope of BCM in different operating environments. Key concepts are explained with examples to illustrate. The value of IT DR in today’s organizations, and critical success factors are highlighted for building resilient organizations.

Introduction to IT Disaster Recovery Methodology and Processes
  • Background to IT DR and mapping of IT DR to the IT Disaster Recovery Process
  • Introduction to IT DR Programme Element and Plan-DO-Check-Act (PDCA) Cycle
IT DR Fundamentals
  • Introduce IT DR concepts
  • Explain terminologies and BCM Body of  Knowledge (BoK)
Risk Analysis and Review
  • Understand risk management terminologies referencing to IT DR
  • Identify and determine threats and risk
  • Understand and implement IT DR context of organization
Business Impact Analysis (Application Impact Analysis)
  • Identify critical business functions and prioritised activities
  • Determine prioritized activities and quantify impact of outage
  • Identify minimum resources and tolerable downtime
Business Continuity Strategy (IT Disaster Recovery Strategy)
  • Understand the purpose of strategy development
  • Identify alternate processing capability
  • Develop strategy for units and corporate level
Plan Development (IT DR Plan)
  • Identify emergency responses
  • Determine major IT DR plan component and its design
Testing and Exercising
  • Develop test plan, scenario and evaluation criteria
  • Determine exercise requirement and program

Deliverables

  • Be competent in IT DR and fundamentals of IT DR
