BCM Institute's certifications are available for all crisis management professionals who want their experience and competency validated by independent crisis management professionals serving on BCM Institute's certification committee.
Can I obtain the Crisis Management certification after completing the WSQ-CM-360 course?
Those who have completed the WSQ-CM-360 Crisis Management course must attend the Qualifying CMCS examination.
Attending and Passing the Examination
For other than the Crisis Management Certified Planner (CMCP) certification, you are required to send in an application form detailing your experience in crisis management about BCM Body of Knowledge (or what is known as BoK) which you can easily make reference to via our BCMpedia website. Don't forget to pay the application fee before submitting your completed forms.
What Are the Pre-requisites to Obtaining Each Certification?
Crisis Management Certified Planner (CMCP)

You are required to attend and complete the CM-200: Crisis Management Planner course;

Pass the Qualifying CMCP e-examination
Crisis Management Certified Specialist (CMCS)

Attend and Complete the WSQ-CM-360 Implementing a Crisis Management Plan course

Pass the Qualifying CMCS examination;

Have at least one year of Crisis Management (CM) or Business Continuity Management (BCM) professional experience;

Be able to describe the implementation and your role in at least 3 BCM or CM related Body of Knowledge (BoK)

Fill up and send in the Certification Application Form
Crisis Management Certified Expert (CMCE)

Attend and Complete the CM-400: Crisis Management Manager or

Pass the Qualifying CMCE examination;

Have at least three years of Crisis Management (CM) and Business Continuity Management (BCM) professional experience;

Describe your implementation and role in at least 5 BCM Body of Knowledge (BoK).

Submitting the Application Form
- Upon passing your qualifying examination, you will receive an email from our Certification Team that includes a Certification Application form and a Checklist.
- Please ensure to complete the Certification Application form in an editable MS Word document.
Note: If Application From is sent via PDF, we shall request you to resend it as an editable MS Word document as we DO NOT accept PDF format - Submit your completed Certification Application and Checklist forms to certification@bcm-institute.org. You must ensure that the Application Form is signed and dated.
- Make sure the Certification Application Processing Fee has been paid before submitting.
How Long Would It Take for Me to Gain My Certification?
Well, your application form will be submitted to our Reviewer Board Committee, which will then assess your form. Once they are satisfied with all the information and that you've met the conditions set, they will award you the relevant certification. Please understand that certifications are then valid for one year, after which yearly renewals are needed to ensure the validity of the certification.
- Four weeks for CMCS
- Six weeks for CMCE
During the application review process, the Certification Review Committee decides whether the Application is:
- Approved (application, experience and education meet requirements)
- Returned for resubmission (an element of the application is missing or does not meet minimum standards for the level and may be resubmitted for a lower level) OR
- Rejected (applicant does not meet minimum requirements for level)
How to Know that You Have Been Awarded?
- Successful applicants will receive the e-Certification award from BCM Institute via email.
- The validity of BCM Institute Certification is 1 Year from the date of issue of the certificate.
- CMCP Candidates shall receive their E-Certificates within seven working days from the day they pass their qualifying examination.
Renewal of Certification
Many people returned to us and asked why we needed to renew it yearly. Why can't we renew it whenever we can? To maintain the currency of your certification, the institute keeps a list of active certified professionals, as they are often asked for by existing and new employers.
