Emergency Prepardness (EP) Readiness Exercise

AICThe Agency of Integrated Care (AIC) had engaged BCM Institute to prepare the community care providers and conduct a Community Care Emergency Preparedness Readiness Exercise on the 3rd October 2019 (9 am to 2 pm) to enhance the readiness of nursing homes in dealing with a pandemic outbreak.

Over 21 Nursing Homes from all over Singapore will participate in 9 simultaneous exercises that will test their responses, knowledge, preparation, and readiness against a scenario designed to ensure that they will be more than equipped when faced against a real outbreak.

Overview of Programme

This half-day exercise is conducted with the intent to allow all participating Organizations to experience a simulated version of some of the challenges they will face during a Pandemic Outbreak. By the end of the pandemic exercise, participants will:

  • Identify key areas in their plans that need to be improved;
  • Possess a greater understanding of their respective organisation’s plans; as well as
  • Come away with the critical actions needed to be undertaken during a Pandemic crisis.

Throughout the exercise spanning over a few simulated weeks and taking them through the entire color spectrum of the DORSCON, they will be given injects to test the following:

  • 3 Core Processes; and
  • 7 Control Areas

Programme Objectives

AIC Readiness Exercise (7)The half day Readiness Exercise is aimed at equipping participants with the following:

  • Evaluate and enhance the readiness of community care service providers in dealing with pandemic outbreak;
  • Practice key components of the service provider’s Emergency Preparedness plan; and
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of the plan.

Programme Schedule

The readiness exercise is the 2nd stage of the programme as it spans over a period of three stages.

Target Audience

AIC Debrief (6)The training and exercise is designed for the Staff Nurses, Clinical Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and other key department staff who play critical roles during a pandemic outbreak as a community care service provider.
