Below is the detailed course curriculum and assessment/ examination objective of Module 1 of DRP-5000 Blended Learning course.

 

It details how each module of the course would allow the participants to have a systematic understanding of the DR concepts and its implementation and how they can prepare for submission of assignment or the siting of the Qualifying Disaster Recovery Certified Expert (DRCE) examination upon completion of the four modules of the course.

Description of Day [Module] 1 Course 

BL-DR-5 M1 Course Requirement IT DRP-5000You will be introduced to BS 11200, the international standard for Disaster Recovery. You will learn the differences between disaster management and related disciplines such as risk management and business continuity management will be explained and supplemented with examples.

IC_BL-DR-3_Mod1This lesson walks the student to the key principles of disaster management, and guides them to develop an appropriate implementation framework for their organisation. This includes the development of a disaster management policy and statement that sets the direction for all disaster-related activities in the organisation. The participant is then taken on a step-by-step walkthrough of the disaster management planning process.

This module also touches on the taxonomy of crises and details the differences in how they are identified and their causes. Understanding disaster types helps participants group disaster situations or types into systems that can be more easily managed at different phases of the crisis.

  • Elaborate the elements and success factors for completing each phase
3 Identify the Types of Disaster
  • Identify the types and causes of disaster
  • Group disaster into categories
  • Review disaster situations relating to your
    organization
4 Establish DR Team and Structure
  • Determine core and non-core DR team members
  • Identify elements within the command centre
    structure
  • Assign roles and responsibility
5 Recognize Threats and Disaster Scenario
  • Understand risk management terminologies
  • Identify and determine risk likelihood, impact
    rating and levels
  • Determine the risk treatments for the disaster
    situations
  • Relate content to ISO 31000 Risk Management -
    Principles and Guidelines
6 Develop DR Strategy Development
  • Identify the various strategies to response with the types of disaster scenario
7 Implement DR Plan
  • Learn the structure and principle of a DR Plan
  • Determine the detailed content of a typical DR Plan
8 Design DR Testing & Exercising
  • Identify the types of DR tests and exercise to be conducted
  • Learn the design of  a test and exercise
