Embarking on Your BCM Audit Learning Journey by Attending the Intermediate [BCM-8030] ISO 22301 BCMS Auditor

Becoming BCM-ready is a process businesses providing essential services to others cannot ignore, whether required as part of legal obligations stipulated in the request for proposal (RFP)/tender, or as part of the corporate culture and ethos of the supplying organisation.

Given the increasing number of disruptions and the unpredictability of disasters of any kind, such as the COVID-19 outbreak, organisations seek to be certified to ISO 22301 to demonstrate commitment to business continuity and ensure that disruptive incidents are detected and properly addressed, thereby continually improving the management system.

By attending the BCM Institute's certified auditor or lead auditor course, you will achieve formal and independent recognition of your personal competencies, and you qualify yourself to conduct BCMS audits for a certification body. If you are a financial or IT auditor, this certification provides you with the recognition that you are competent and is able to audit an business continuity management program.

Course Content

achieved through the equipping of internal auditors and Organisation BCM Coordinators with the requisite skills, tools and knowledge to plan, control and eventually lead BCM-related audits by the requirements of the ISO 22301 Standard.

Objectives

Attending the course will provide the participants with the pertinent skills and knowledge, empowering them to: BCM-8030 3D 02

The 3½‎ day course would cover the following topics, which the participants should be able to master by the following:

Have an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals for Business Continuity Management with alignment to ISO22301.
Learn the principles and practices of internal audit for a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
Walk through the entire audit process of people, policies and processes, from managing an audit program, controlling audit activities, to reporting on audit results.
Able to interpret and understand the framework and audit requirements of the ISO 22301 BCM standard.
Understand the function and purpose of ISO 22301, the BCM values and standards required of the company and its executives.
Review the leadership and management commitment for the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
Translate the requirements of ISO 22301 into a program for auditing BCM within the company.
Understand the Elements of the BC Programme or BCM planning methodology with ISO 22301, their risks and controls.
Highlight the principles and practices for performing an internal audit of the BCM program and/or BCM System.
Equip skills, knowledge and tools to plan, control and manage internal audits.
Report results to the company’s BCM Steering Committee and/or Executive Management about compliance with practices, or any shortfall.

Internal and external auditors conducting BCM audits.
Financial and IT auditors performing BCM compliance or regulatory audits.
Consultants performing first, second and third-party audits for clients.
Any professionals assigned to audit or review the BCM policies & activities based on the ISO22301 standard.
Employees or consultants in EHS, Security, HR, IT, Risk & Compliance functions and are new to ISO22301 and BCM.
You are a business partner or service provider of essential services to any organisation for which the disruption of such a service provided by you would have catastrophic consequences to that organisation.

BCM Audit Certification

BC Certified Auditor (BCCA) certification is awarded to participants who successfully completed and passed the Qualifying BCCA examination attached to the course, submit an application detailing at least 1 year of BC experience, pay the application processing fee of Singapore Dollar SGD 75 and satisfy the experience requirements of the independent certification body

Candidates should have successfully completed the BCM-8030: ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System Auditor course and met the necessary requirements for auditing and BCM experience.

How to be Certified

The individuals should have met and continue to meet the following requirements:

Successful completion of the BCM-200: ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Systems Planner (duration 1 day)
Successful completion of the remaining 2-days of BCM-8030: ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Systems Auditor (duration 2 days)
Successful completion of the 2 and ½ hour BCCA examination (duration 1/2 day) with a required passing score of 75% out of 100 Multiple-choice Questions (MCQ)
At least 1-year of experience in business continuity management (BCM) and/or disaster recovery planning (DRP) auditing and/or reviewing of plans.
