Getting Ready for Your OR Course and Certification Examination by First Knowing the Terminology

Preparing for Your OR Course & Certification Examination

When reading this section, you should have received your personalized user-id and password to access the examination portal. To prepare for the actual examination, you may want to start doing some preliminary reading on Operational Resilience and its related terminology that will be taught during the course.  So, where do you start?

If you are attempting the following Operational Resilience (OR) certification examination after completing either the OR-200 [Operational Resilience] (ORCP) Planner, OR-300, OR-400, or OR-5000 course, you should include this as part of your revision preparation. You can read through the terminologies from the Body of Knowledge or BOK 1 to BOK 7.

As you are enrolled, you should be able to identify the course name and code you are attending.  Proceed to locate in the appended table below, which will direct you to the Competency Level or CL for Operational Resilience (OR) you must review. 

Summary of Examination Preparation

This is the section that highlights the preparation for answering questions for terminology.

1. Foundation Level

OR-200: Operational Resilience Planner [BL-OR-2] or BL-OR-3 Module 1

The course is offered by BCM Institute at the Foundation level course.  It is indicated as Competency Level [CL] One [1] Operational Resilience [CL] or CL 1OR. The code "B" tagged behind CL 1 indicates the domain of the Operational Resilience discipline.  This is BCM Institute's basic certification program, which will allow you to be awarded the OR Certified Planner (ORCP) upon successful completion.

As for the ORCP examination, the format will be fifty multiple-choice questions, and there will be no deduction for incorrect answers. The duration for the ORCP exam will be one and a half hours.

2. Intermediate Level

OR-300: Operational Resilience Implementer [BL-OR-3]

Completing the program and assessment at the intermediate level course will lead you to be certified as an Operational Resilience Certified Specialist (ORCS). Again, the examination format is 100 multiple-choice questions with no deduction for incorrect answers. The duration for either examination will be two and a half hours from the start.

The summary of the terms used during the preparation for the Operational Resilience Certified Specialist (ORCS) examination can be found here: CL 2OR.  Do note that when you are requested to read CL 2OR, it is assumed that CL 2OR is part of the examination.

3. Advanced Level

OR-400: Operational Resilience Manager [BL-HL-OR-4] / OR-5000: Operational Resilience Expert Implementer [BL-HL-OR-5]

Finally, at the institute's advanced level course for Operational Resilience or CL 3OR, which is the advanced level, BCM Institute will be offering the OR Operational Resilience (ORCE). Here, the examination format will be 100 questions, and the duration of the examination will be three and a half hours. All examinations will be taken under an invigilator, and the passing mark will be 75% of the questions.

The preparation of the OR Certified Expert (ORCE) examination about the terminologies used during the OR-400 (a 2-day course after attempting the BCM-300 on an earlier date) OR-5000 course can be found in CL 3OR.  Do note that when you are requested to read CL 3OR, it is assumed that CL 1OR and CL 2OR are included as part of the reading for the ORCE examination.
