The execution of a typical BC plan includes the following stages:

  • Reduce
  • Respond
  • Recover
  • Resume
  • Restore
  • Return

Infectious Disease 6 ‘Rs’ Plan

A typical Infectious Disease BC Plan consists of the following components:

  • Reduce
    • The focus is on the preventive and mitigation measures.
  • Respond
    • The focus is to manage and contain the Infectious Disease incident.
  • Recover/Resume/Restore/Return
    • Limited planning except for some high level documented process to handle the critical business functions.

The focus is to restore the non-critical functions and damaged infrastructures so operations can return to normal. An Infectious Disease response plan must handle:

  • Preventive measures to minimise contamination (Infectious Disease Prevention).
  • Immediate responses to a disaster (Infectious Disease emergency response).
