Getting Ready for Your DR Course and Certification Examination by First Knowing the Terminology

BCM Institute welcomes your enrollment in our IT Disaster Recovery certification course.  You are about to attempt your practice [electronic] examination at this juncture.

Although you may not have started the course, it may be helpful for you to start with some preliminary reading on the terminology taught during the course.  So, this blog will give you a head start on where you start.

Preparing for Your DR Course & Certification Examination

When you read this section, you should have received your personalized user-id and password to access the examination portal. To assist you in preparing for the actual examination, you may want to start doing some preliminary reading on the IT DR and its related terminology that will be taught during the course.  So, where do you start?

If you are attempting the following IT Disaster Recovery (DR) certification examination after completing either the DRP-200: IT DR Planner, DRP-300: IT DR Implementer, DRP-400: IT DR Manager or DRP-5000: IT DR Expert Implementer course, you should include this as part of your revision preparation. You can read through the terminologies from the Body of Knowledge or BOK 1 to BOK 7.

As you are enrolled, you should be able to identify the course name and code you are attending.  Proceed to locate in the appended table below, which will direct you to the Competency Level or CL for Business Continuity Management (BCM) you must review.

1. Foundation Level

DRP-200: IT DR Planner

DR CL 1DThe course is offered by BCM Institute at the Foundation level course.  It is indicated as Competency Level [CL] One [1] Disaster recovery [DR] or CL 1D. The code "D" tagged behind CL 1 indicates the domain of the Business Continuity discipline. 

DRCP Disaster Recovery Certified Planner Certification (Size 75)This is BCM Institute's basic certification program which, upon successful completion, will allow you to be awarded the Disaster Recovery Certified Planner (DRCP)

As for the DRCP examination, the format will be fifty multiple-choice questions, and there will be no deduction for incorrect answers. The duration for the DRCP exam will be one and a half hours.

The summary of the terms used during preparing for the Disaster Recovery Certified Planner (DRCP) examination can be found here: CL 1D. For this competency level, you will read through the terminology in 7 areas of the Body of Knowledge or the BOK 1 to BOK 7.

2. Intermediate Level

DRP-300: IT DR Implementer

DRCE DR CL2DAt the intermediate level course, the successful completion of the program and assessment will lead you to be certified as a Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist (DRCS).

Again, the examination format is 100 multiple-choice questions with no deduction for incorrect answers. The duration for either the examination will be two and a half hours from the start.

DRCS Disaster Recovery Certified SpecialistThe summary of the terms used during preparing for the Disaster Recovery Certified Planner (DRCP) examination can be found here: CL 2D.  Do note that when you are requested to read CL 2D, it is assumed that CL 2D is part of the examination.

3. Advanced Level

DRP-400: IT DR Manager/ DRP-5000: IT DR Expert Implementer

DRCE DR CL3DFinally, at the institute's advanced level course for Disaster Recovery or CL 3D, which is the advanced level, BCM Institute will be offering the DR Certified Expert (DRCE).

Here, the examination format will be 100 questions, and the duration of the examination will be two and a half hours. All examinations will be taken under an invigilator, and the passing mark will be 75% of the questions.

DRCE Disaster Recovery Certified Expert certificationThe DR Certified Expert (DRCE) examination preparation about the terminologies used during the DRP-400 (a 2-day course after attempting the DRP-300 on an earlier date) or the DRP-5000 course can be found in CL 3D.  Do note that when you are requested to read CL 3D, it is assumed that CL 1D and CL 2D  are included in the reading for the DRCE examination.
