Lesson 4: Business Impact Analysis

Lesson 4 of the BCM-200 e-learning module.

This module will help participants learn more about the fundamentals of Business Impact Analysis (BIA), the third phase of the BCM planning methodology, so that they can successfully implement the BCM planning process.

Through online learning, participants will be taught the basic concepts and processes of BIA, including the steps, activities, and outcomes of the BIA phase. They will also be taught to understand the various BIA data collection methods and analyse the data collected.

Participants will also be taught to identify critical business functions (CBF), related inter-dependencies and vital records. They will also be taught how to identify the impact on business and CBFs during a disaster

At the end of the module, participants would be able to:

What will you learn?
  • Determine the critical business functions in their organisation
  • Establish recovery windows, including time-sensitive processes
  • Understand the impact on the organisation and critical business functions, whether it be qualitative or quantitative
  • Identify the inter-dependencies and vital records related to critical business functions.

Flexible Learning at Your Pace
  • Learn on your schedule: Pause and resume the module whenever it suits you.
  • Test your knowledge: A short quiz at the end will assess your understanding of the material.
