Am I Sufficiently Prepared to Attend the BCMS ISO 22301 Auditor [BCM-8030] Course?

BCM-8030 is the first installment of the BCM-8530: BCMS ISO 22301 Lead Auditor.  This course is completed by busy professionals who are keen on achieving the Business Continuity Certified Auditor certification in two stage.  This is usually due to time commitment or budgetary constraint.

BCM-8030 is a 3-day intermediate level BC Auditor course with an addition of 2 and 1/2 hour 150-Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based examination, following the successful completion of the course. It is primarily designed and developed to instill detailed concepts and knowledge in BCM practitioners, which will enable the individual to drive BA programmes and projects for the entire organization.

Pre-requisite
  • 1-2 years of practical BCM implementation and/or audit experience, specifically in BCM Program Management; understanding an organization’s risk & its impact on the business; determining BCM strategies; developing & implementing BC plan(s); exercising, maintaining and reviewing BCM plan(s); and have help make BCM an organizational practice and culture.
  • It would be beneficial for participants to have some understanding of business continuity and have good knowledge of the business systems in their organization before attending this course.

Course Content

The 3½‎ day course would cover the following topics, which the participants should be able to master by the following:

  • Have an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals for Business Continuity Management with alignment to ISO22301.
  • Learn the principles and practices of internal audit for a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
  • Walkthrough the entire audit process of people, policies and processes from managing an audit program, controlling audit activities to reporting on audit results.
  • Able to interpret and understand the framework and audit requirement of the ISO 22301 BCM standard.
  • Understand the function and purpose of ISO 22301, the BCM values and standards required of the company and its executives.
  • Review the leadership and management commitment for the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
  • Translate the requirements of ISO 22301 into a program for auditing BCM within the company.
  • Understand the Element of BC Programme or BCM planning methodology with the ISO 22301, their risks and controls.
  • Highlight the principles and practices for performing an internal audit of the BCM program and/or BCM System.
  • Equip skill, knowledge and tools to plan, control and manage internal audits.
  • Report results to the company’s BCM Steering Committee and/or Executive Management about the compliance to practices, or any shortfall.
